Placed

I got a placement!! I will be teaching English next year in....*drumroll*...Galicia! I don't know a lot about it, but my professor's husband is from there, and she recommends it. Everyone says it is beautiful and temperate and green. Sounds nice enough. Apparently they speak Gallego there, which is kind of like Portuguese. That makes me a little nervous, but I'm sure things will work out. I was nervous before I went to Bilbao that no one would speak Castellano there, and pretty much everyone did.

I'm kind of glad I'm going through the Spanish government and not CIEE. Not that CIEE is bad or anything, but I'm really going to need the money that I will save by not having to pay them.

Not too much else to report at the moment. I don't know what city I will be in yet. They will send me that information in due time. Hopefully I will be able to live in Santiago de Compostela, where there is a university and an airport (with Ryanair!). I'd like to be able to live with Spanish people who are my own age, and that seems like the best place to do that. Plus, an airport=cheap flights to around Europe! So, more information when I have it. I'm just glad, at the moment, to be able to say with total certainty that I WILL be going back to Europe next year. Yessssss. I will start teaching in October, so that means a whole summer at home to get a visa and relax and pack, and then leaving in mid-to-late September.
